A evening of fun and entertainment where we take you out of your comfort zone just a little bit and explore the mysterious world of making a record.

To begin we tell you a little of the background of the music industry in Melbourne and particularly the rich history associated with this legendary building which has been a recording studio for many years. In fact, many of your favourite records were recorded right here in Bank Street, South Melbourne. With the help of a celebrity or two, we’ll guide you through the process of how to make a record while you enjoy some lovely food and wine. You’ll watch a musician lay down a track and learn how the engineer and producer can make them sound perfect. Then we’ll really get you and your team involved and teach you how to be part of a backing vocal group. We’ll get you singing in tune (well, some of you) and ready to record backing vocals on a song that you’ll be familiar with. And in case you want to have a practice, we will send you a CD to check out before the night.

Then we’ll go for a take. You’ll get to sing on the track and be recorded by our multi ARIA award winning engineer Doug Brady. You’ll be in good company, Doug’s worked with John Farnham, Kylie Minogue, Delta Goodrem, the list goes on….  By the time you’re all loosened up and feeling like rock stars we’ll be looking for volunteers to sing the lead vocals on the track. That’s when the fun really begins, you’ll be surprised how people change when they’re in front of a microphone!

Finally, you’ll watch as Doug attempts to make the whole thing sound worthy of being played on the radio. A few days after, we send everyone a CD of the night’s performances. By the end of the night, you’ll either discover a few hidden talents or you’ll realise why you never got into the music biz! But hopefully you’ll have had a lot of fun and learned a few things about your colleagues along the way too.
